World Kidney Celebration - 2023

World Kidney Day is a global campaign that aims to raise awareness of the importance of our kidneys to our overall health and reduce the frequency and impact of kidney disease and its associated health problems worldwide. World Kidney Day is celebrated every second Thursday in March.

The Dialysis Department of Shree Krishna Hospital, the teaching hospital of Bhaikaka University also celebrated this day. The dialysis wing was decorated with flowers.

According to Dr. Maulin Shah (Nephrologist, Shree Krishna Hospital), "the dialysis wing has 44 dialysis machines, the most in the Charotar region. Every month, the center treats 2000 people with chronic kidney diseases, 90% of whom are Ayushman Bharat Yojna beneficiaries. The hemodialysis treatment and iron and vitamin supplements have been given to them free of charge. The centre also provides continuous renal replacement therapy to acute kidney injury patients, plasma therapy, renal replacement, fistula and permanent catheter, and kidney disease diagnosis and treatment".

There are also 8 dialysis machines at the secondary care centre at Sevaliya (Sonaba Hospital and Sadaba Prasutigruh, Sevaliya run by Shree Krishna Hospital, Karamsad) to meet the health care needs of the nearby villages in Mahisagar and Panchmahal districts. Monthly, 350 patients are being treated for hemodialysis. Out of which, 200 are beneficiaries of Ayushman Yojna.
