The NSS Unit of Bu organized a program for the Meri Maati Mera Desh campaign

Meri Maati Mera Desh with the tagline Mitti Ko Naman, Veero Ko Vadan is a nationwide initiative to commemorate 75 years of independence. By connecting with the land & honoring our heroes, this program will instill a sense of national pride & inspire future generations to protect India's cherished heritage.

In this campaign, the NSS Unit BU organized a program on 09-082023 at Bhikhabhai Auditorium. 20 Ex-Army Officers & Retired Policemen were felicitated with mementos & shawls. A heartfelt gratitude was expressed to all the brave hearts (Veers & Veeranganas) who have made the supreme sacrifice. The Amrit Vatika was created by a plantation of 75 saplings of indigenous trees on the university campus.

The function was graced by Ex- Army Officers Shri Surendran Nair & Shri Zakirsha Diwan as the special guests & other dignitaries Dr. Utpala Kharod (Provost, BU), Dr. Harish Desai, (Registrar, BU), Dr. Jyoti Tiwari (Controller of Academics, BU), Dr. Sonal Chitroda (NSS Coordinator, BU), Dr. R. Harihara Prakash (Principal, KMPIP), Shri Shailesh Panchal (Principal, INS), Dr. Manisha Gohel (NSS, Program Officer, PSMC), Dr. Ashish Gupta (NSS, Program Officer, KMPIP), Ms. Tejal Virola (NSS, Program Officer, INS & GHPSN), Ms. Binita Patel (NSS, Program Officer, LPPIMLT & CAMIAHST), NSS volunteers, & students.

The event started with the NSS song - Lakshya Geet “Uthe samaj ke liye uthe”. Dr. Manisha in her welcome speech provided an overview of the program “Meri Mati Mera Desh”. Dr. Ashish briefed about the purpose of “Panch Pran”. The NSS volunteers & the August gathering took a solemn pledge covering Panch Pran, affirming their commitment to the country.

Dr. Utpala said that we should express heartfelt gratitude to all the brave hearts (Veers & Veeranganas) who have made the supreme sacrifice, especially freedom fighters, defense personnel, personnel of Central Armed Police Forces & State Police who laid down their lives in the line of duty.

Shri Zakirsha Diwan expressed that good citizens are the backbone of the nation. The prime duty of a citizen is to become a good, conscious, dutiful, & responsible citizen.

Shri Surendran Nair informed the students that the armed forces are a career option for the country's youth & there are a number of officer cadre jobs for doctors, pharmacists, engineers, pilots etc.

The program was anchored by Ms. Binita. In the end, Ms. Tejal proposed a vote of thanks.
