PATH (Professional Academic Talent Hunt) – An Initiative by Pramukhswami Medical College, Karamsad

As part of the Career Placement Initiative of Bhaikaka University, Pramukhswami Medical College rolled out PATH (Professional Academic Talent Hunt) from September 7 to 9, 2026, connecting medical graduates and postgraduates with prospective employers across Gujarat. The three-day medical recruitment drive brought together private medical colleges and hospitals, including corporate, private and trust-run institutions from across the State.

For doctors, completing medical training does not always translate into a straightforward pathway to a suitable career opportunity. Finding a position that matches their specialty, experience, preferred location and career aspirations often requires approaching institutions individually, tracking scattered vacancy announcements and relying on professional networks. The challenge is not merely finding a vacancy, but identifying opportunities that offer the right professional fit.
PATH was designed to address this gap by bringing candidates and employers together on a common platform. Candidates had the opportunity to explore available positions, discuss expectations and attend interviews with multiple institutions, while employers could interact with applicants from diverse medical backgrounds.

A total of 69 candidates from pre-clinical, para-clinical and clinical specialties participated in PATH, along with 17 employers. The participating employers included private medical colleges, corporate hospital chains, and private and trust-run hospitals located across major and emerging medical hubs in Gujarat, including Ahmedabad, Surat, Vadodara and Rajkot. Across the three days, a total of 224 interviews were conducted.

A distinguishing feature of PATH was its dedicated focus on medical recruitment across both academic and clinical roles. By bringing medical colleges together with different categories of hospitals, the initiative created a common recruitment platform offering opportunities in teaching as well as patient care. Its broad coverage across medical disciplines also made it relevant to candidates seeking career options beyond conventional hospital practice.

PATH was made possible through the efforts of a team of young medical professionals and undergraduate medical students, supported by the Human Resources and Marketing teams of Bhaikaka University.

According to Dr. Srushti Patel, Coordinator, PATH, the initiative received positive feedback from both candidates and employers, with participants expressing the need to expand PATH on a larger scale. The response highlighted the value of a common platform where medical professionals and recruiting institutions can interact directly, understand each other’s requirements and make informed employment decisions.

PATH will continue in the coming year with a wider spectrum of candidates and recruiters, with an expanded vision to reach beyond Gujarat and create broader career opportunities for medical professionals.
