NICU doctors of SKH teaching hospital of BU performed dialysis on the newborn and saved her life

The child born with difficulty in breathing and suffering from pneumonia was referred from Khambhat to Shree Krishna Hospital, Karamsad. The infant was admitted to a neonatal ICU and her kidney was severely injured and she had not been passing urine since the day of her birth. 

Dr. Somashekhar Nimbalkar,Dr. Dipen Patel and Dr. Reshma Pujara conducted peritoneal dialysis for two days. The child was put on ventilation support for 12 days. The treatment was done under Ayushman Bharat Yojna due to the poor financial condition of her parents.“The procedure was successful, and the baby is healthy now. She is being breastfed by her mother now and has gained weight. Her kidney functions are almost back to normal, and she is passing urine normally. She is now expected to grow up normally like any other healthy newborn. ”said Dr.Dipen Patel.
