Global Handwashing Day Celebration 2022

CAM Institute of Allied Health Science & Technology and Smt. L.P. Patel Institute of MLT, Bhaikaka University celebrated “Global Handwashing Day” by organizing talks, games, and fun activities on 11th October 2022. The celebration was conducted to spread awareness and promote hand washing with soap amongst all the students of both colleges and healthcare workers of Shree Krishna Hospital, the teaching hospital of Bhaikaka University. The program was marked by the presence of Respected Principal Dr. Menka Shah, Vice Principal Dr. Sulabhsinh Solanki, and Guest speaker Dr. Binda Pipaliya.

 

The celebration of the program started with prayer. The principal of the institute, Dr. Menka Shah delivered the keynote address at the Global Hand Washing Day celebration. She acknowledged the students about the history, theme, and importance of hand washing in our day-to-day life. She advised the students to promote awareness of hand hygiene in their homes and communities through social media graphics, videos, printable stickers, various types of competitions, role play, etc.

 

She also enlightened the students with the wise words of Mahatma Gandhi's quote “It is health that is real wealth and not pieces of gold and silver”.

 

Dr. Binda Pipaliya, Assistant Professor in Microbiology, PSMC, was invited as a guest speaker. She wonderfully imparted information about the “Importance and Effectiveness of Hand Washing for healthcare workers”. She discussed different aspects of hand hygiene. She also imparted information regarding WHO techniques of handwash and hand rubbing. She emphasized the importance of hand hygiene in the prevention and control of different diseases. A video based on ‘how to wash your hand properly’ was also presented by her. The session was very informative and interactive.

 

Further, Ms. Dipal Bhatt organized games and fun activities like dart games with quizzes, role play rapid-fire rounds, etc. for all the students and healthcare workers who enthusiastically participated in the activity. The aim was to remind our students and healthcare workers that hand washing with soap and water is one of the best steps we can take to avoid getting sick and spreading germs. At the end of the program, guest speaker Dr. Binda announced the name of the winners. The winning students and healthcare workers were awarded the prize. The students and healthcare workers thoroughly enjoyed the program and a total of 60 students and 48 healthcare workers attended the session gracefully. The program ended with a vote of thanks to all the dignitaries and the audience.
