The International Day of Persons with Disabilities is a global call to action to promote understanding, break down barriers, and advocate for the rights and well-being of persons with disabilities. For the K. M. Patel Institute of Physiotherapy (KMPIP) of Bhaikaka University, this day serves as a reminder of how far society has progressed—and how much more needs to be done—to build a truly inclusive and accessible community.
To mark the occasion,(3 December 2025)students from six special schools of Anand district participated in a vibrant cultural program held at the Bhikhabhai Auditorium of the university. The participating institutions included Andh Apangjan Vikas Mandal, Mogari; Gurukrupa Special Residential School, Anand; Meera Rehabilitation Centre, Mogari; National Association for the Blind, V.V. Nagar; Sathi Special School, Borsad; and Valasan Kedvani Mandal. A total of 78 students with special needs took part in the event.
The differently-abled students captivated the audience with their cultural performances, showcasing their talent, confidence, and enthusiasm. Their performances were met with warm applause and appreciation from faculty members, students, and guests.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Harihara Prakash, emphasised that disability should never be seen as a hindrance to the mental and physical strength of individuals. He stated that such programs are organised to help students recognise their abilities, overcome stage fear, build self-confidence, and provide them with opportunities to express themselves in a supportive and inclusive environment.
