BU Women Development Cell Organized 2 Day National Conference on Wellness Within-Nurturing Women

The Women Development Cell (WDC) of Bhaikaka University successfully organized a two-day National Conference titled “Wellness Within: Nurturing Women” as a part of Nari Conclave 2025, held on 18th and 19th December 2025 at the Bhikhabhai Auditorium, Bhaikaka University. The conference witnessed participation from over 100 delegates, including academicians, postgraduate students, research scholars, professionals from the corporate and healthcare sectors, NGO representatives, and entrepreneurs.

The conclave celebrated the essence of womanhood by highlighting women’s strength, resilience, intellect, and emotional depth, while addressing critical dimensions of physical, mental, social, financial, and environmental well-being. It served as a vibrant platform for knowledge sharing, awareness generation, and holistic empowerment.

The event was held under the guidance and support of Dr. Gauri Trivedi, President of Bhaikaka University, as Chief Patron; Dr. Abhay Dharamsi, Provost of Bhaikaka University, as Patron; Dr. Pragya Nair, Organizing Chairperson; and Dr. Dipal Bhatt, Organizing Secretary of the Women Development Cell, Bhaikaka University and Dr. Jyoti Tiwari, Registrar, Bhaikaka University.

In her presidential address, Dr. Gauri Trivedi emphasised the importance of treating women as equals in every sphere—from policymaking to nation-building—ensuring they have equal opportunities to lead, contribute, and succeed alongside men in both professional and personal spaces. She reiterated the university’s strong commitment to fostering a safe, inclusive, and empowering environment for women.

The conclave aligned with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of “Nari Shakti,” which emphasizes on  women-led development and places where women are at the center of India’s progress through various initiatives and legislative reforms. The Women Development Cell of Bhaikaka University actively contributes to this vision by promoting physical, mental, and spiritual well-being through workshops, lectures, and outreach programs, thereby creating a safe and equitable environment for women’s overall growth and meaningful societal contribution.

The keynote address on “Empowering Leadership in Women” was delivered by Ms. Chandrika Bahadur, CEO of The Antara Foundation, New Delhi, who shared valuable insights on leadership, resilience, and professional growth. The conclave featured a diverse group of eminent experts who explored topics ranging from health and nutrition to social, professional, and digital challenges faced by women.

Eminent speakers included Ms. Riddhi Gupte, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DYSP), Gujarat, who spoke on “Surakshit Online: Cyber Suraksha for Everyday Life”; Dr. Priyanka Srivastava, Oncologist and Director of Rayos Comprehensive Care, Anand, who addressed advances in women’s reproductive health with a focus on cancer awareness and preventive measures; Dr. Kamlesh Dave, Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry, GMC Surat, who spoke on mental health and emotional well-being; Ms. Shilpa Joshi, Clinical Nutritionist, Consultant Dietitian, and Diabetes Educator at Mumbai Diet and Health Centre, who discussed nutrition and healthy lifestyle practices; Dr. Nina Madnani, Department Coordinator at PD Hinduja National Hospital, Mumbai, who spoke on skin health, beauty essentials, and the impact of social media; Ms. Amruta Bavadekar, Director of CEHAT (Centre for Enquiry into Health and Allied Themes), who focused on equity, equality, and closing the gender gap; Dr. Suneela Garg, Professor of Excellence in Community Medicine, Delhi, who highlighted reproductive health and the need to break the culture of silence; Ms. Sophia Khan, Director of Safar, Ahmedabad, who spoke on women’s rights and safety; Dr. Smt. Chhalamayi Reddy, Principal of Sri Aurobindo International School, Hyderabad, who inspired participants with her talk on “Awakening the Shakti Within”; and Ms. Minalben Jani, Deputy Conservator of Forests, Ahmedabad, who addressed the role of women in protecting the environment.

The conference also featured a panel discussion titled “Samanvay: Women’s Harmony Across Career, Care, Community, Health, Nutrition and Climate,” moderated by Dr. Manisha Gohel, Professor and Head of the Department of Community Medicine at Pramukhswami Medical College, Bhaikaka University. The panel brought together experts including Dr. Utpala Kharod from the Amrita Patel Centre for Public Health, Dr. Smruti Vaishnav, Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Pramukhswami Medical College, Dr. Shalini Pandya, Consultant Physician and Diabetologis, Dr. Kamlesh Dave, Associate Professor, Dept of Psychiatry, GMC Surat, Ms. Amruta Bavadekar, Director, CEHAT, Ms Pinakiniben Pandya, Department of Gujarati, SP University, who collectively shared multidisciplinary perspectives on women’s holistic well-being.

Sessions also emphasized women’s financial empowerment and digital entrepreneurship. Dr. Nishma Shah, Founder and Digital Strategist of Nuclick, Gujarat, delivered a session on “Breaking Bias, Building Brands: Women Entrepreneurs Rising on Digital Platforms,” while Dr. Sangeeta Desai, Gender Consultant and Faculty at the Sophia Centre for Women’s Studies and Development, Mumbai, emphasized “Evidence to Action: Advancing Women’s Financial Literacy in India.”
