The NSS Unit of Bhaikaka University organised an awareness session and rally on October 9, 2026, under the ‘Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat – 100 Weeks Sankalp Abhiyan’, in association with Vallabh Vidyanagar Police, to sensitise students about the harmful effects of substance abuse and encourage them to lead a drug-free life.

The awareness session was held at Lecture Hall 3, Pramukhswami Medical College, Bhaikaka University. Shri G. G. Jasani (IPS), Superintendent of Police, Anand District, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Other dignitaries included Shri G. N. Panchal, DySP, Anand District; Shri J. M. Chavda, Police Inspector, Special Operations Group; and Shri Rathva, Police Sub-Inspector, Vallabh Vidyanagar Police Station.

Representing Bhaikaka University, Dr Jyoti Tiwari, Registrar; Dr Swapnil Agarwal Dean, Pramukhswami Medical College; Dr Dinesh Kumar, Assistant Dean, Undergraduate Programmes, Pramukhswami Medical College; Dr Sonal Chitroda, In-charge Principal; Smt. L. P. Patel, Institute of Allied Health Sciences and Technology; and the NSS Programme Coordinator, Bhaikaka University and NSS officers were present.

During the session, Dr Sonal Chitroda highlighted the objectives of the campaign and emphasised that substance addiction can severely affect young people's education, social relationships, financial stability and future prospects. She encouraged students to make informed decisions and stay away from addictive substances.

Addressing the students, Shri G. G. Jasani cautioned them against falling prey to substance abuse due to stress, peer pressure or experimentation. He explained that addiction can lead to serious consequences, including disruption of education, financial debt and legal complications. He also highlighted the strict legal provisions governing narcotic substances and urged students not to believe the misconception that experimental drug use is harmless. Emphasising the importance of life and responsible choices, he encouraged students to protect their future by staying away from drugs.

Following the awareness session, a rally was organised from Pramukhswami Medical College to Sardar Patel Home, Karamsad. More than 150 NSS volunteers, along with the NSS Programme Coordinator, participated in the rally to spread awareness about the dangers of substance abuse and promote the message of a drug-free society.

The rally concluded at the statue of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, where Dr Jyoti Tiwari, Registrar, Bhaikaka University, paid tribute to the Iron Man of India by placing a cotton garland around his statue. The participants also took a pledge to support the Nasha Mukt Yuva initiative and contribute towards building a healthier, safer and drug-free society in line with the vision of Viksit Bharat.
