BU NSS Unit organized 8 Day Community Service Camp at Valasan

The National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit of Bhaikaka University, Karamsad,  organized an eight-day NSS Community Service Camp at Valasan village from November 19 to November 26, 2025, with the enthusiastic participation of over 200 student volunteers from constituent institutes of Bhaikaka University including Medicine, Nursing, Physiotherapy, Medical Laboratory Technology, and Allied Health Sciences.

The camp was conducted under the able leadership and guidance of Provost Dr. Abhay Dharamsi, Bhaikaka University, with the objective of fostering social responsibility, community engagement, and the holistic development of students.

On November 19, 2025, more than 200 NSS volunteers participated in the National Unity Yatra held in Anand district, along with NSS coordinators from various institutes, including Dr. Sonal Chitroda, Dr. Ashish Gupta, Smt. Tejal Virola, Smt. Binita Patel, and Dr. Hemashri Parmar, highlighting the spirit of unity and patriotism.

The NSS camp was formally inaugurated on November 20, 2025. The chief guest for the inauguration ceremony was the internationally renowned authority on Integral Health and Education. Dr. Alok Pandey, along with Bhaikaka University officials including Provost Dr. Abhay Dharamsi, Registrar Dr. Jyoti Tiwari, and principals of all constituent institutes. They motivated students to serve society with discipline, dedication, and commitment.

The second day witnessed the active participation of NSS volunteers in a poster-making activity during the inauguration of BLISS – Centre for Spirituality and Integral Health at Bhaikaka University.

The volunteers also visited the Sardar Patel Memorial, where they viewed an informative film highlighting the life, values, and contributions of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.

On the third day, RTO Officer Shri N. K. Solanki visited the camp and delivered an informative session on road safety, emphasizing responsible behavior and awareness among young people.

Adding further inspiration, the Superintendent of Anand Police, Shri Gaurav Jasani, addressed the students and emphasized the importance of discipline, focus and commitment in personal and professional life.

Key highlights of the camp included health screening activities conducted in Valasan village, such as optical and dental check-up camps at Prathmik Shala Valasan and D. S. Patel School. Students and villagers were educated about dental hygiene practices, screened for common oral health issues, and underwent vision testing with appropriate guidance on eye care.

The NSS team organized a NCD (Non-Communicable Disease) Screening Camp along with a Blood Donation Camp at Karamsad Nagarpalika. The initiative aimed to promote early detection of hypertension and diabetes, encourage voluntary blood donation, and strengthen community participation in preventive healthcare.

In addition, volunteers conducted fun and interactive group activities, creative tasks, and games that promoted teamwork, leadership, and discipline—reflecting the ideals of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.

The camp concluded successfully, leaving a lasting impact on both the student volunteers and the local community by fostering a spirit of service, unity, and social responsibility.
