BU launches sustainable Health Safety Net for Rural Families Under Family Adoption Program
Bhaikaka University, in collaboration with the Department of Community Medicine of Pramukhswami Medical College, has launched a sustainable healthcare support initiative for 450 adopted households in the villages of Porda and Sunav under its Family Adoption Program. This is the significant step toward advancing rural health equity.
Under the leadership of Dr. Manisha Gohel, Professor and Head of the Department of Community Medicine, Ashirwad Cards have been distributed to every member of the adopted families, ensuring improved access to affordable and quality healthcare services. The initiative is aimed at eliminating financial barriers to essential medical care among rural communities.
The Ashirwad Card scheme offers comprehensive healthcare benefits, including free Outpatient Department (OPD) and Inpatient Department (IPD) consultation services, along with a 25% concession on all laboratory and radiological investigations.
By integrating clinical care with a strong community-oriented approach, the initiative reflects Bhaikaka University’s continued commitment to strengthening preventive and curative high quality healthcare delivery in rural areas.
The Family Adoption Program for the 2025 batch is being coordinated under the guidance of Dr. Preeti Tiwari, who is serving as the in-charge faculty member for the program at the Department of Community Medicine.
