Bhaikaka University, in continuing collaboration with the District Health Office, Anand, organized two significant elderly care screening camps. These vital health initiatives, conducted under an existing Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), took place at Primary Health Center (PHC) Boriyavi on June 3, 2025, and at PHC Piplav on June 10, 2025, providing substantial benefits to the elderly population across Anand District. At Boriyavi PHC and Piplav PHC, 163 and 106 elderly people, respectively, benefited from the camps.
Under the strategic guidance of Dr. Abhay Dharamsi, Provost of Bhaikaka University; Dr. Jyoti Tiwari, Registrar of Bhaikaka University; Dr. Himanshu Pandya, Dean of Pramukhswami Medical College; and Dr. Jitesh Desai, Medical Superintendent of Shree Krishna Hospital (SKH), two dedicated teams of specialist doctors from Shree Krishna Hospital, a constituent institute of Bhaikaka University, were carefully deployed. These teams offered comprehensive geriatric health screenings, exemplifying Bhaikaka University's "Varisth Suvarnayug Program" and its unwavering commitment to community health.
This initiative also underscores the crucial role of the Amrita Patel Centre for Public Health (APCPH) in working alongside government bodies, effectively utilizing institutional resources for broader public health endeavors. Dr. Kallol Roy, Assistant Professor and Academic Coordinator at APCPH, served as the University's primary representative, ensuring seamless coordination with the Medical Officers of the respective Primary Healthcare Centres, Dr. Srishti at Boriyavi and Dr. Bela at Piplav.
Highly skilled medical practitioners from key departments of Shree Krishna Hospital provided thorough health check-ups, diagnostic services, and initial treatments at both locations. The team at PHC Boriyavi on June 3, 2025, included Dr. Deep Patel for Otolaryngology, Dr. Rahul B Talavia for General Medicine, Dr. Mihir Brahmbhatt for Orthopaedics, and Dr. Shalu Sharma for Ophthalmology. The team at PHC Piplav on June 10, 2025, comprised Dr. Rahul R Konkani for Otolaryngology, Dr. Ayushi Patel for General Medicine, Dr. Raj Vadodariya for Orthopaedics, and Dr. Shalu Sharma for Ophthalmology.
All beneficiaries received vital screenings and preliminary treatment for Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) and other conditions commonly found in the geriatric age group. Furthermore, efficient logistical arrangements ensured that all participants had easy access to the services. Senior officials also shared valuable information on NCD and elderly care treatment, greatly enhancing public health education within the community.
