BU and SKH Celebrate International Nurses Week 2026 with Enthusiasm and Excellence

The week-long celebration witnessed enthusiastic participation from more than 160 nurses, reflecting the spirit of teamwork, dedication, and professional excellence within the nursing fraternity. Competitions including sports events, Best Chef, reel-making, and quiz competitions were conducted to encourage creativity, wellness, and camaraderie among the nursing staff. All participating nurses were honoured with certificates in recognition of their active involvement and contribution.

On May 14th, 2026, a special felicitation ceremony was organised to honour outstanding nursing professionals. Thirty staff nurses of Shree Krishna Hospital were recognised with the Star Nurses Award, while three college faculty of Institute of Nursing Sciences received the Academic Excellence Award for their exceptional professional and academic performance.

The awardees were identified by the Human Resources Department based on their exemplary service and achievements.

The occasion was graced by distinguished dignitaries including Provost of Bhaikaka University, Dr. Abhay Dharamsi; Registrar of Bhaikaka University, Dr. Jyoti Tiwari; Medical Superintendent of Shree Krishna Hospital, Dr. Jitesh Desai; Chief Nursing Officer Mr.

 Sunil Joshi, Ms. Shany Thomas Principal, College of Nursing, Assistant Matron Mr. Silambarasan, Ms. Jigisha Prajapti and Ms. Sunanda Macwan appreciated the invaluable role of nurses in delivering compassionate healthcare services and revisited the Florence Nightingale pledge

At the college level, the Institute of Nursing Sciences enthusiastically celebrated International Nurses Day 2026 on May 13th under the theme, “Our Nurses, Our Future. Empowered Nurses Save Lives.”

The celebration commenced with a prayer and lamp-lighting ceremony symbolising the spirit of care, compassion, and service that defines the nursing profession. Inspiring addresses delivered by the Principal highlighted the pivotal role nurses play in strengthening healthcare systems and promoting patient well-being.

The event featured a vibrant mix of cultural and interactive activities, including role-play performances, an open mic session, a mime act, and a treasure hunt. These activities reflected essential nursing values such as empathy, leadership, teamwork, and dedication to patient care.

As part of the second day’s celebrations, an inter-college debate competition was organised with participation from five teams. The participants showcased impressive communication skills, confidence, and critical thinking while discussing contemporary healthcare and nursing-related topics.

A Mega Quiz Challenge involving nine teams was also conducted, featuring rounds on general knowledge, medicine and instrument identification, and clinical case scenarios. The competition promoted academic excellence, clinical reasoning, and professional preparedness among nursing students.
