Bhaikaka University recognises outstanding Research and Teaching Excellence

Bhaikaka University honoured faculty members, senior residents and students with the Bhaikaka University Research Awards 2026, recognising and celebrating outstanding research contributions, innovation and research potential. Alongside the Research Awards, Best Teacher Awards were also presented to faculty members in recognition of their outstanding contribution to academics and teaching excellence.

The award ceremony was organised by Bhaikaka University at the Bhikhabhai Auditorium. A total of 16 faculty members, senior residents and students were recognised with certificates, mementoes and cash prizes across various research categories, while Best Teacher Awards were presented to faculty members for their contribution to the academic excellence.

The occasion was graced by Shri Atul Patel, Chairman Emeritus, Charutar Arogya Mandal; Dr. Abhay Dharamsi, Provost, Bhaikaka University; Dr. Jyoti Tiwari, Registrar, Bhaikaka University; and Dr. Madhavi Patel, Dean, Doctoral Studies and Research, Bhaikaka University.

The Bhaikaka University Research Awards have been instituted with the broader objective of strengthening the University’s research culture and encouraging a journey from research contribution to quality, innovation and impact. The awards recognise research excellence among faculty, promote research aptitude among students, encourage innovation and acknowledge high-impact research publications.

Among the awardees, Dr. Dipen Patel, Professor and Head, Department of Neonatology, received the Outstanding Research Excellence Award 2026 (Faculty Category). Dr. Arijit Datta, Professor and Head, Department of Forensic Medicine; Dr. Bhalendu Vaishnav, Professor, Department of Medicine; Dr. Rachit Patel, Consultant Intensivist, Shree Krishna Hospital; Dr. Pragya Nair, Professor and Head, Department of Dermatology; Dr. Ankita R. Bhatiya, Associate Professor, Smt. L.P. Patel Institute of Allied Health Sciences & Technology; Mrs. Shany Thomas, Principal and Professor, Institute of Nursing Sciences; and Dr. Kallol Roy, Assistant Professor, Amrita Patel Centre for Public Health, received the Research Appreciation Award 2026. Dr. Jigar Mehta (PT), Professor, K. M. Patel Institute of Physiotherapy, received the Research Encouragement Award 2026, while Dr. Mayur Chudasama, Orthotist and Prosthetist, K. M. Patel Institute of Physiotherapy, received the Innovation Appreciation Award 2026.

In the student category, Dr. Aditya Bhatt, Senior Resident, Department of Neonatology, received the Outstanding Research Promotion Award 2026. Dr. Prashant Verma, Resident, Department of Forensic Medicine & Toxicology, and Dr. Rutam Vaishnav, UG Student, Pramukhswami Medical College, received the Research Promotion Appreciation Award 2026, while Dr. Aeina Patel (PT), PG Student, K. M. Patel Institute of Physiotherapy, received the Student Innovation Award 2026. The Best Research Paper Award for Highest Impact Factor 2026 was conferred upon Dr. Ashish Gupta (PT), Professor, K. M. Patel Institute of Physiotherapy, and Dr. Rumi Bhattacharjee, Professor, Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology.

The Best Teacher Awards were presented to Dr . Samirchandra Bhavsar,  Professor, Department of Ophthalmology: Dr Archana Nimbalkar, Professor, Department of Physiology, Dr. Punam Bhinde, Professor, Department of Medicine; Shri Satish Kumar Jha,  Assistant Professor, Smt. L.P. Patel Institute of Allied Health Sciences & Technology; Ms. Ravina Khristi, Associate Professor, Institute of Nursing Sciences; Dr. Ershadali Ansari, Assistant Professor, K. M. Patel Institute of Physiotherapy; and Dr. Kallol Roy,  Assistant Professor, Amrita Patel Centre for Public Health, in recognition of their outstanding contribution to teaching, academics and student development.
