Bhaikaka University, in collaboration with the District Health Department, organized elderly care screening camps in Anand District
Bhaikaka University's constituent institutes, Shree Krishna Hospital and the Amrita Patel Centre for Public Health (APCPH), organized two significant elderly care screening camps at Sayama and Bandhani Primary Health Centres on May 13 and 17, 2025, respectively. Nearly 390 people benefited from these camps. As a part of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) and a collaborative effort with the District Health Office, Anand, these camps provided geriatric health screenings, underscoring the university's commitment to community well-being under the "Varisth Suvarnayug Program."
The camps were organized under the strategic leadership of Dr. Abhay Dharamsi (Provost, Bhaikaka University), Dr. Jyoti Tiwari (Registrar), Dr . Himanshu Pandya ( Dean, Pramukhswami Medical College ) and Dr. Jitesh Desai (Medical Superintendent, Shree Krishna Hospital). They meticulously deployed specialist medical teams to both locations, providing comprehensive diagnosis, screening, and treatment.
The Amrita Patel Centre for Public Health played a pivotal role in these efforts, effectively leveraging institutional resources for public health initiatives in partnership with the government. Dr. Kallol Roy, Faculty at APCPH, served as the University's nodal person, ensuring seamless coordination with the respective PHC Medical Officers, Dr. Hiral Saxena (Sayama) and Dr. M.S. Maheriya (Bandhani).
At Sayama PHC, the medical team from Shree Krishna Hospital included Dr. Swaroop Patnaik (Otolaryngology), Dr. Vidhi Patel (General Medicine), Dr. Dhruv Patel (Orthopaedics), and Dr. Rashi Kochar (Ophthalmology). At Bandhani PHC, the team comprised of Dr. Aditi Bandekar (Otolaryngology), Dr. Harsh Solanki (General Medicine), Dr. Manan Shroff (Orthopaedics), and Dr. Jane Mehta (Ophthalmology). They provided comprehensive screening and preliminary treatment for Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) and conditions specifically relevant to the geriatric age group to all beneficiaries. Additionally, senior officials from the Amrita Patel Centre for Public Health provided valuable information on NCD and elderly care treatment, contributing to broader public health education.
