APCPH Hosts Research Methods Workshop for Allied Health Sciences Students
The Amrita Patel Centre for Public Health (APCPH), Bhaikaka University, organised a one-day Workshop on Research Methods aimed at strengthening research skills among undergraduate and postgraduate students from allied health sciences disciplines. Altogether,24 participants took part in the programme.
The workshop focused on transforming academic curiosity into practical research action through a structured, hands-on approach. Experts guided participants through the key stages of the research process, moving beyond theoretical concepts to practical application.
Dr. Kallol Roy addressed the fundamentals of defining a research problem and formulating a clear, focused research question. This was followed by a session on evidence building, where Dr. Dinesh Kumar introduced participants to effective strategies for navigating and reviewing scientific literature.
The next segment of the programme focused on study design, during which Dr. Deepak B. Sharma explained the selection of appropriate research approaches, including observational and interventional studies. The final technical session addressed data handling, with Dr. Kishor Sochaliya and Ms. Mamta Patel simplifying concepts related to sampling methods and basic statistics.
The workshop concluded with an introduction to protocol writing, enabling students to integrate their learning into preliminary, actionable research plans. Participants were also informed that additional sessions dedicated to drafting complete research protocols would be organised in the future.
Through initiatives such as this workshop, APCPH aims to foster a culture of inquiry and research among students, equipping them with essential tools to address real-world public health challenges.
