APCPH Conducts Skill Certification Program for Village Health Workers in Collaboration with Tata STRIVE

 Amrita Patel Centre for Public Health (APCPH) organised a three-day skill certification program for Village Health Workers (VHWs) in association with Tata STRIVE (a Skill Development programme housed under the overall governance of Tata Community Initiatives Trust) and the Indian Hotels Company Limited.

More than 100 Village Health Workers from Anand, Kheda, and Panchmahal districts participated in the program. These workers are engaged in grass-root healthcare initiatives under the SPARSH program, through which Charutar Arogya Mandal—the parent organisation of Bhaikaka University—has adopted villages to provide doorstep diagnosis and treatment of non-communicable diseases.

The program was conducted from March 24 to March 26, with the objective of recognising and honouring the dedicated work of Village Health Workers (VHWs), as well as enhancing their professional skills.

During the program, the Head of APCPH acknowledged the efforts of the VHWs, along with the staff and faculty of the centre, emphasising that such initiatives significantly improve the efficiency and skill sets of grass root healthcare workers.

Dr. Bhalendru Vaishna, Head of the Department of Medicine at Shree Krishna Hospital and convener of the BLISS Centre, conducted sessions on Yoga Nidra and shared valuable insights on the management of hypertension and diabetes.

Experts from Tata STRIVE also contributed to the training. Mr. Zuber Saiyed from Tata Community Initiatives Trust attended the training program. He shared a great overview of the training's importance and provided excellent support in organising the three-day event Shri Vipul Mayavanshi spoke on conflict management, Shri Chirag Rohit delivered a session on home safety, and Smt. Dipali Barot provided guidance on women’s safety.The Village Health Workers were felicitated and awarded certificates upon successful completion of training under the recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) program.

This initiative reflects the Tata Group’s commitment to social responsibility and community upliftment. The program has empowered frontline health workers with enhanced confidence and skills to effectively face future challenges.
