APCPH Celebrates World Cancer Day at Sharda Higher Secondary School
Amrita Patel Centre for Public Health (APCPH), Bhaikaka University, celebrated World Cancer Day at Sharda Higher Secondary School, Mahelav, Petlad, Anand, on 4th February 2026. The program aimed to create awareness among secondary and higher secondary students about cancer prevention, early detection, and the importance of adopting a healthy lifestyle, including preventive measures such as vaccination. 65 students participated in this informative program.
The program was graced by Dr. Deepak Sharma, Director of APCPH, along with faculty members and staff.
During the event, Mr. Rakesh Parekh, MSW, delivered an informative session on oral cancer. He shared an educational video and emphasised the importance of a healthy lifestyle through the message: “Tan thi majbut, Man thi majbut, Swasth Khorak.” His session focused on preventive measures and positive lifestyle changes.
Mr. Savan Vyas, Community Health Officer, provided valuable information on oral and cervical cancers, highlighting their early signs, risk factors, and the importance of timely screening.
Dr. Priya Mistri, Assistant Professor explained the role of HPV vaccination in preventing cervical cancer and stressed the need for long-term protection through vaccination.
The program concluded with an interactive session, where students actively participated and clarified their doubts regarding cancer prevention and healthy living.
