Amrita Patel Centre for Public Health (APCPH) celebrated World AIDS Day on 2nd December. The team engaged students at C M Patel High School, Fangani in an interactive awareness session.
The event held a special significance as two of the facilitators, Ms. Vishva Barot and Mr. Rakesh Parekh, returned to their alma mater to educate students in the very classrooms where they once sat. They described the experience as “heartwarming” and an opportunity to give back to the community that shaped them.
Dr. Deepak Sharma, Director of APCPH, led the session with 183 students from standards 9 to 12. The interactive format encouraged students to ask questions and discuss HIV/AIDS openly, helping break the stigma surrounding the topic.
The initiative underscores the importance of empowering rural youth with accurate health information, with the aim of fostering informed decisions and promoting healthier communities.
The programme was coordinated by Dr. Priya Mistri and Mr. Amit Parmar, with support from APCPH faculty and MPH students, ensuring a smooth and impactful engagement.
