3rd Convocation of BU

The 3rd Convocation of Bhaikaka University, Karamsad, was held on 30th November 2025 with traditional solemnity and academic pride. The convocation procession began from the University Office and was led by the Registrar, Dr. Jyoti Tiwari, who carried the ceremonial mace. The event was graced by the presence of Dr. Abhijat Sheth, Chairman of the National Medical Commission(NMC), as the Chief Guest, and Dr. Pravitra Mohan, Pediatrician, Public Health Expert, and Co-founder and Executive Director of Basic HealthCare Services, Udaipur, Rajasthan, as the Guest of Honour.

The dais was adorned by senior dignitaries of the University and Charutar Arogya Mandal, including Shri Amit Patel, Secretary of Charutar Arogya Mandal; Shri Jagrut Bhatt, Former Secretary of Charutar Arogya Mandal; Dr. Gauri Trivedi, President of Bhaikaka University; Dr. Abhay Dharamsi, Provost; Dr. Jyoti Tiwari, Registrar; the Principals of all constituent institutes of the University; Dr. Madhavi Patel, Dean (Doctoral Studies and Research); Dr. Swapnil Agarwal, Dean, Pramukhswami Medical College; Dr. Harihara Prakash, Principal, K. M. Patel Institute of Physiotherapy; Dr. Sonal Chitroda, In-charge Principal, Smt. L. P. Patel Institute of Allied Health Sciences and Technology; and Prof. Shany Thomas, Principal, Institute of Nursing Sciences & Shri G. H. Patel School of Nursing.

The convocation was formally declared open by Dr. Gauri Trivedi, President of Bhaikaka University. This was followed by a welcome address and the presentation of a comprehensive developmental report by Provost Dr. Abhay Dharamsi. Degrees were then conferred upon 496 students across a wide range of undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs by the Registrar. The graduating cohort included 4 PhD,  (Doctor of Philosophy) awardees, 3 D.M(Doctor of Medicine)  graduates, 180 M.D./M.S(Doctor of Medicine and Master of Surgery) postgraduates, 16 Master in Physiotherapy students, 3 M.Sc. Nursing graduates, 10 M.Sc. Medical Technology students, 140 M.B.B.S. graduates, 20 Bachelor in Physiotherapy students, 38 B.Sc. Nursing graduates, 40 B.Sc. Medical Technology graduates, 6 P.G. Diploma recipients, 20 Diploma in Medical Technology students, and 16 Diploma in Yoga graduates.

Ten  students received Gold plated Medals in recognition of their academic excellence. These included Dharmik Patel (Bachelor of Physiotherapy), Shreyaben Patel (Master of Physiotherapy), Hikshuben Patel (B.Sc. Medical Technology), Hiralben Gami (M.Sc. Medical Technology), Om Jaiswal (MBBS), Harsh Kumar Darji (Basic Medical Sciences), Poorva Tailor (Basic Medical Sciences), Rashmita Pal (Clinical Sciences), Kajalben Mishra (Clinical Sciences),and  Hemansiben Patel (BSc Nursing)  The medals were presented jointly by the Chief Guest, Guest of Honour, and other dignitaries. The gold plated medal for MBBS sponsored by Dr.  Shivani Bhatt Charitable Foundation.

In his convocation address, Chief Guest Dr. Abhijat Sheth highlighted the growing burden of non-communicable diseases in the country and emphasized that the National Medical Commission is prioritizing training in self-care, preventive healthcare, and professionalism through the ATCOM((Attitude, Ethics and Communication)  module. He reflected on the lessons learned from the COVID-19 pandemic and underscored the need to foster a culture of preparedness within the medical community. Dr. Sheth announced that, through a joint initiative with the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), the NMC will soon introduce PhD programs and reinforce clinical research capabilities to promote indigenous innovation in medical devices and pharmaceuticals. He further noted that medical seats across India have been increased by 18,000, alongside continuous efforts to enhance the quality. While faculty capacity is being strengthened to support this expansion, he emphasized that high-quality, competitive education remains a key priority. Addressing the evolving role of technology, Dr. Sheth reassured that artificial intelligence will not replace doctors, but understanding its applications is becoming essential in modern healthcare. He congratulated all graduating students and remarked that the journey of a medical professional progresses from information to knowledge and ultimately to practice, underscoring the importance of lifelong learning, self-respect, and respect for others.

Guest of Honour Dr. Pravitra Mohan, in his felicitation address, encouraged students to consciously define the purpose of their professional journey, whether it lies in ethical clinical practice, community service, or other meaningful contributions to the society. He advised graduates to explore diverse institutional experiences to broaden their understanding and enrich their professional perspectives.

In her presidential address, Dr. Gauri Trivedi revisited the founding vision of the Charutar Arogya Mandal and its commitment to serving society. She reminded the graduates that as members of a noble profession, they have a fundamental responsibility to provide compassionate and empathetic care to their patients.

The ceremony concluded with a Vote of Thanks proposed by Dr. Ashok Nair, Controller of Examinations.
