20th H M Patel Memorial Lecture

The parent organisation of Bhaikaka University(BU), Charutar Arogya Mandal, (CAM) organised the 20th Memorial Lecture on 30th November 2025, the death anniversary of its Founder Chairman, Dr. H. M. Patel. Board members, governing body members, university staff, and university leaders paid heartfelt tributes at his samadhi, remembering his lifelong commitment to education and healthcare.

The event featured the 20th H. M. Patel Memorial Lecture, delivered by Paediatrician, Public Health Expert and Co- Founder and Executive Director of Basic Healthcare Services – Udaipur  Dr. Pravitra Mohan on the theme “Equitable Healthcare in India: Leading the Change.” While paying tribute to Dr. H. M. Patel, Dr. Mohan highlighted the persistent systemic disparities in India’s healthcare system, particularly in regions with limited access to primary healthcare.

He elaborated on the work of Basic Health-care Services, which operates six Amrit Clinics and 18 daycare centers in remote areas of southern Rajasthan. These centers provide curative healthcare and nutritional support to underserved communities. Special focus is given to women and children suffering from malnutrition, many of whom face heavy household responsibilities. Through trained community health workers and nurses, doorstep healthcare services are delivered with the support of telemedicine, aiming to improve child nutrition and strengthen healthcare access in marginalised regions.

Dr. Abhay Dharmasi, Provost of Bhaikaka University, reflected on the vision of the Founder Chairman. He emphasised that Dr. H. M. Patel established Charutar Arogya Mandal to ensure equitable and affordable healthcare for all, to bring solace to those who are suffering, and to train healthcare professionals with compassion and empathy towards patients.

The lecture witnessed the presence of Shri Atul Patel, Chairman, CAM; Shri Amit Patel, Secretary, CAM; Dr. Gauri Trivedi, President, Bhaikaka University; Dr. Abhay Dharmasi, Provost, BU; Dr. Jyoti Tiwari, Registrar, BU; CAM governing body members; leaders and staff of Bhaikaka University; and other dignitaries.
