2000 participants in Bhaikaka University's sixth Healthy Heart Walkathon

The sixth Healthy Heart Walkathon, organized by the Bhanubhai and Madhuben Patel Cardiac Centre of Shree Krishna Hospital, a teaching hospital of Bhaikaka University on Saturday, October 8th, 2022 has evoked tremendous response amongst the people of Anand, Vallabh Vidyanagar, and Karamsad. Nearly 2000 people from all walks of life participated in this sixth Walkathon to create awareness about heart disease and adopting a healthy lifestyle. It was also an event to celebrate the 14th anniversary of setting up the Bhanubhai & Madhuben Patel Cardiac Centre of Shree Krishna Hospital, which has treated and cured hundreds of patients.

On this occasion, a special cardiac health check-up package was announced by the Cardiac Centre from 8th - 31st October 2022 with a discount of 25 percent. It includes ECG, ECHO, Lipid Profile, FBS, CBC, S.Creatinine, and consultation with cardiologist and dietitian @ Rs 1500.

Flagging off the walkathon Shri Prayaswinbhai Patel, Chairman, and Managing Director of Elecon Group of Industries felt it was a walk for a good cause. He suggested that one of the best ways of doing so is by walking regularly. A healthy lifestyle ensures that no one needs to come to the hospital.

Shri Atul Patel, President of Bhaikaka University said, Due to the COVID pandemic we organized a walkathon after two years. More number of people enthusiastically participated. It aimed to highlight healthy lifestyle practices by bringing people and communities together in spreading messages about cardiovascular disease, a leading cause of death worldwide.

Respected dignitaries Shri Shailesh Rathi (Managing Director, Vidya Wires), Shri Rajesh Subramaniam (Managing Director, IDMC), Shri Atul Patel (President, Bhaikaka University), Shri Jagrut Bhatt ( Hon. Secretary, Charutar Arogya Mandal), Dr. Utpala Kharod (Provost, Bhaikaka University), Dr. Harish Desai ( Registrar, Bhaikaka University), Dr.Jitesh Desai ( Medical Superintendent, Shree Krishna Hospital), Shri Mafatkaka, Shri Nilay Soni, Shri Pravinbhai Patel, Shri Dinubhai Patel, Shri Jayant Pandya (Foundation Trustees) were present during this occasion and participated in 3 km walk from Dr. H.M Patel Statue, near Nalini Arvind and TV Patel Arts College, Vallabh Vidyanagar to Town Hall, Anand.

Participants from Elecon Group of Companies, the National Dairy Development Board, The Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation, Indian Dairy Manufacturing Company Ltd, Vidhya Dairy the Kaira district Cooperative Milk Producers Ltd, Anupam Mission, Rotary Club, Anand, Vallabh Udyog Nagar Industrial Association (VUIA), Charotar Gas Shahkari Mandli Limited and many others including the Board of Trustees, doctors, students, NSS Unit of the University and staff of Bhaikaka University took part in the walkathon. They carried banners that emphasized the need to create awareness about heart diseases and the means to check and cure them.

Shri Jagrut Bhatt, Honorary Secretary, Charutar Arogya Mandal thanked all the participants for the tremendous response and hoped that there would be even greater enthusiasm in the next walkathon.
