'Parenting for Peace', a webinar organised on 10th December 2020 by the Bhaikaka University

A Webinar was organized by Women development cell (WDC)of Bhaikaka university, Karamsad on 10th December 2020. On behalf of women development cell, Dr Pragya Nair (Convener of WDC), welcomed everyone and briefed them about establishment of Bhaikaka university and women development cell which is a support cell for women of all cadres to empower them physically, mentally, psychologically and spiritually.

The cell has planned many activities to create awareness about social, legal and constitutional rights, empowerment of women at community level and sensitize them about gender equality. She welcomed the speaker Dr Salim Hirani, who is a pediatrician in private practice since 22 years and a core member of a non govt, non professional social national movement “Parenting for peace”. He works for creating awareness regarding the right and evidence based scientific techniques of child nurturing among parents, teachers and society. He also Conducts suicide prevention program named as YOLO (-you only live once-), not only across India but also outside country.

The talk included discussion on various principles of parenting like power of appreciation and giving unconditional love to children. He also discussed four parenting styles and the implications of the same. Around 60 participants attended the webinar. The webinar was highly appreciated by all the participants. It was quite interesting and interactive.

Concluding remarks were given by Dr Utpala Kharod, Provost of Bhaikaka university and chairman of WDC. She emphasized the importance of parents and teachers being role models for the children. She also was of the opinion that the children born in last few decades and also of the future generation are/will born with higher consciousness and, we as parents and society have to be ready to understand and accept them.
